Fred – Our MyLab40 Vet Ultrasound System…

The MyLab40 is a compact ultrasound system that allows us to obtain amazingly detailed and clear images, enabling a more thorough examination. Our MyLab40, affectionately nicknamed ‘Fred’, applies ultrasound energy through the skin to image abdominal organs; kidneys, liver, spleen, intestines, urinary structures and even adrenal glands. 

The high sensitivity images and tissue enhancement imaging allow our vets to detect abnormalities of abdominal organs as well as assess blood velocity, flow and patency of abdominal vessels. The colour Doppler allows the vet to scan real-time images of blood flow for the presence of abnormalities or obstruction of vessels. ‘Fred’ also has the ability to zoom in and focus on certain areas or to zoom out in order to view images up to a depth of 36cm! It also has an integrated stress echo to reduce interference and obtain a clear image.

Cardiology features are also available for the MyLab40 and allow the vet to obtain an image of the heart sufficient for evaluating any cardiac abnormalities and determine the velocity and direction of blood in the heart and vessels.
